Who Should Attend

Canon Advanced User is designed specifically for Canon photographers who want to better understand and take advantage of the capabilities built into today's Canon cameras.

This is not a beginner photography class. It is intended for experienced photo enthusiasts and professional photographers who are already comfortable with basic camera operation and want to dig deeper into autofocus, exposure, camera customization, menu settings, and other advanced features.

Our Focus Is Canon Mirrorless

The instruction throughout the day is centered on Canon's EOS R-Series mirrorless camera system, with particular emphasis on the capabilities found in Canon's more recent enthusiast and professional cameras.

Many of the concepts we discuss—exposure, autofocus techniques, camera configuration, flash, and efficient camera operation—are useful to photographers using a wide range of Canon cameras. However, Canon has introduced significant new capabilities with each generation of its mirrorless cameras, and we want attendees to understand that some of the features demonstrated during the workshop may not be available on older models.

We'll spend considerable time exploring some of Canon's newest and most powerful technologies, including advanced subject detection and tracking, autofocus customization, and other features that have evolved significantly in recent generations of EOS R cameras.

Bring the Camera You Use

Bring your Canon mirrorless camera and follow along as we work through settings and techniques. You'll have opportunities to make changes on your own camera, experiment with different approaches, and ask questions about how the features apply to your photography.

If you're using an earlier Canon model, you're certainly welcome to attend. Much of the underlying instruction will still be valuable, but you should expect the demonstrations and discussions to be based primarily on the current Canon mirrorless system and its latest advancements.

The goal isn't simply to show you everything your camera can do. It's to help you identify the features that can make a meaningful difference in your photography—and understand how and when to use them.
