A Typical Photography Workshop

GreatPhotography represents the blending of a half-century of photographic experience. It is the combination of talent and resources from professional photographers Tony Corbell and Rob Hull. We have been offering photo workshops for more than 10 years and have taught tens of thousands of aspiring and professional photographers.

As certified professional photographers, we combine the history of the regions we visit with photography training for people of all skills. We have taught complete beginners to overcome their fears along with advanced photographers.

Typical is not an adjective that you usually use to describe a photography workshop by Tony Corbell and Rob Hull. In fact, they are anything but typical. Even so, we do try to maintain a basic structure that helps us provide a flexible framework for all the activities we plan for any event.

Let’s take a look at a common 3-Day photography workshop. For longer workshops, we just add more fun-filled days in the middle.

Day 1 (First Day)

Our first day together sets the tone for the entire program. Unless otherwise specified, we begin the photography workshop at 4:00 pm and usually with a reception where we can all get to know each other. This also gives us a chance to understand more distinctly what questions you may have.

We don’t like to waste any time so plan on activities well into the evening.

Day 2

“Day 2” is really any full days between our First and Last days.

This is our first full day together and we will fill the photo workshop with lots to learn and do. For classroom programs or those focused on studio photography, we begin the day at 9:00 am. For travel workshops and those events with location photography we may be out long before sunrise to take advantage of the beautiful morning light.

We do plan for 1-on-1 time during the photography workshop to help you with any specific issues. The day is a balance of classroom time and hands-on photography sessions.

For travel photography workshops we try to plan leisure time so that you can enjoy the outstanding locations.

Evenings may include photo sessions and definitely some social time to get to know everyone. A wine bottle or two has been known to have been opened and a guitar may just show up.

Day 3 (Last Day)

Our last day together begins at 9:00 am. That is, of course, unless we are chasing beautiful light.

The agenda for the photography workshop may include classroom time and photography sessions. You’ll also have time to get answers to any questions you may have.

The event will wrap up by Noon.

Sometimes you just need to slow down and enjoy the sights.
