Terms & Conditions

Revised July 22, 2022

The Details spell out the relationship between you and the Corbell Photographic Workshops, LLC, subsequently known as CPW.

CPW is owned by Tony Corbell and Rob Hull and does business as GreatPhotography.

Types of Events

CPW hosts a variety of events and the terms may change based on the type of event in which you participate.

Workshop - tends to be multi-day events. They may be local, or destination events that are for small to medium groups.

Seminar - has limited interactivity and generally a single-day event that involves larger groups.

Class - is an interactive event that can be in-person or virtual. Generally cover a pre-defined topic agenda.

Photo Tour / Odyssey - are the most comprehensive programs offered. An Odyssey program is a destination event, often to international locations. The services offered go far beyond a workshop - often including cultural tours, other group events. Lodging is often included in the Odyssey events. Because of the complexity of these events, there are often unique terms and conditions. These are all spelled out in the details about the event.

What’s included in my tuition?

The tuition covers all classroom and field education.

Unless otherwise noted, travel, hotel, and personal expenses are paid by each student.

Room reservations

It’s recommended that you make your lodging reservations as soon as you register for the workshop. Because we work only with small groups, some hotels will not block rooms for our use. Also, most hotels will release rooms that are blocked anywhere from 30 to 90 days before an event. Note that for some events, lodging is included and details will be spelled out in the information on those events.

Unless otherwise noted, you must make your own lodging accommodations. CPW designates a host hotel for your convenience and this hotel may offer special rates for our guests. When you contact the hotel you should advise them that you are with the CPW Workshop.

Workshop participants are not required to stay at the host hotel. In either case, you should advise your workshop leader where you will be staying so that any last-minute information can be passed on to you as quickly as possible.

Payment options

CPW accepts Visa, MasterCard, personal checks, and, of course, cash. All prices are quoted in US dollars. When possible, we appreciate receiving payment via a service like Zelle.

Deposit

For events where deposits are accepted, the deposits are fully refundable for 7 days, after which time they become non-refundable.  The balance is due 90 days prior to the event.

For “Odyssey” events (for example, most International workshops) deposit and payment terms are specified for each event.

For most classes, full payment is due when you register for the event.

Refund policy

Deposits are fully refundable for 7 days, after which time they become non-refundable.

For most workshops, seminars, and classes, tuition refunds, less any deposit, are available if requested 90 days prior to the start date of the workshop. For cancellations less than 90 days before an event, you will be liable for the full tuition.

For Odyssey events, look for specific refund terms in the details of the event. We often are coordinating with ground operators and other vendors and the terms need to be consistent with their requirements.

Refunds processed soon after an order may be processed by your bank as a reversal meaning the original payment will disappear from your account statement entirely and your balance will reflect as though the charge never occurred. It can take anywhere from 5-10 business days to have a refund show up on your bank account. If you do not see the refund after 10 business days, reach out to us to rectify this.

Cancellation

From time to time there may be situations that require us to cancel a workshop. Although this is unlikely you should be aware that such an event is possible whether because of illness, under-enrollment, government-imposed travel restrictions, etc.

In the event that CPW elects to cancel a workshop for our own business reasons - such as under-enrollment - 100% of your tuition will be refunded.

Fees are not refundable for events canceled for reasons beyond CPW control. COVID-19 travel restrictions fall into this category. Trip insurance is strongly recommended. In such an event, CPW may try to refund a portion of the fees paid, depending upon the costs associated with the event.

CPW is not liable for any other costs associated with the cancellation of a program including, but not limited to, nonrefundable airfare, hotel deposits, etc.

CPW reserves the right to determine if and when an event is to be canceled. If for whatever reason, the event is determined to be unsafe or incompatible with our purpose, CPW may cancel the event. Such a cancellation would be considered to be beyond our control.

International Travel

CPW is not responsible for obtaining visas nor for advising guests of passport, visa or other immigration requirements, so be sure to verify what is needed for your travels. You may be denied entry to some countries if you have not obtained the correct visas or documents prior to departure. CPW cannot provide any refunds for or cost to change travel plans should you have missing or incomplete documents.

Insurance

All participants are strongly urged to purchase trip cancellation and interruption insurance, especially students who elect to purchase non-refundable airline tickets. Please be aware that most of these insurance policies limit their liability for events like the COVID-19 pandemic.

Safety

Workshop locations selected by CPW are extremely safe though you should exercise prudence in your activities. Don’t leave valuables unattended and when traveling at night you should travel with a companion.

Activities planned for all CPW workshops are well within the capabilities of an average person in good health. No workshop activities are planned for any hazardous areas though you should be aware that many of the photo locations are unimproved. You should be prepared to hike on uneven, muddy, slick, steep, and rocky trails all while carrying an assortment of camera equipment.

Also, be aware that you may be in a natural area and the animals that you see are wild. Please help keep them that way.

All wildlife, especially bison, elk, and bears, are unpredictable and dangerous. Keep a safe distance from all wildlife and Do NOT feed any wildlife. Each year, a number of visitors to the parks are injured by wild animals -- do not approach any elk closer than fifty meters, and watch closely for any aggressive signs displayed by the animal (raised ears, glaring looks, stamping feet, etc.). It is not unusual to see elk and other wild animals roaming the streets of some of the towns. They may look tame but they are wild animals.

Workshop participants should prepare for a wide range of weather conditions. Rainwear is recommended and chilly mornings dictate multi-layered clothing, hats, mittens, and warm footwear. Inclement weather actually adds a wonderful mood to photographs so the field schedule will only be altered if the weather turns dangerous.

Release of Liability

This agreement is between the person identified in the registration as the guest (the “Guest”) and CPW, Tony Corbell, and Rob Hull (collectively, the “Host”).  The purposes of this agreement are to (1) release from liability and hold harmless the Host and their agents, heirs, successors and assigns, and (2) acknowledge and accept the dangers, risks and hazards associated with the photography workshop and related travel hereinafter described (the “CPW Workshop”).

The Host shall not be liable for, and the Guest shall indemnify the Host and save it harmless from, all suits, actions, damages, liability and expense in connection with loss of life, bodily or personal injury or property damage arising from or out of any occurrence during the CPW Workshop or in, upon, at or from the Workshop Location, or occasioned wholly or in part by any action or omission of the Guest, its agents, contractors, employees, invitees, or licensees. If the Host shall, without fault on its part, be made a party to any action commenced by or against the Guest, the Guest shall protect and hold the Host harmless therefrom and shall pay all costs, expenses, and reasonable attorney's fees to the Host incurred in connection therewith.

The provisions, covenants, conditions and indemnities contained in this Release shall survive the period of and continue after the CPW Workshop.
