rand Teton National Park is one of those must see locations.  The craggy, rock-faced peaks of the majestic Teton mountain range tower over 7,000 feet above Jackson Hole. There are no foothills to impede the view of these stunning mountains that run along the western edge of a 50-mile long valley. Twelve of the Teton peaks reach above 12,000 feet and in the valley is Grand Teton National Park. A photographers paradise.

What You'll See

Throughout Jackson Hole there are photogenic spots around every turn.  Here are just a few of the locations where we will have field photography sessions.

Schwabacher Landing This is the picture postcard location for photographing the Teton mountain range reflected in the back waters of the Snake River. The landing itself is at the end of a one-mile gravel road that drops steeply off the plateau and onto the river bottoms and through a cottonwood forest.

Jenny Lake The second largest lake in Jackson Hole was named for Jenny Leigh, the Shoshone wife of trapper “Beaver Dick” Leigh. Many visitors consider this area to be the heart of the Tetons and it will be one of the most visited areas during our workshop. Feeding into Jenny Lake is String Lake, a narrow, calm and shallow lake that provides some stunning reflections of the mountain peaks 7,000 feet above.

Oxbow Bend At this point the Snake River makes a wide turn, creating a series of placid ponds that are now cut off from the main river. When the water is calm you can see a classic reflection of the Teton Range dominated by Mt. Moran and Skillet Glacier.

Mormon Row Once the home of early Mormon settlers, this area is now a preserved window into the past. Old barns and farmhouses are framed by the jagged mountain range, an idyllic playground for photographers.

Signal Mountain Road This five-mile paved road leads to the summit of Signal Mountain, some 1,000 feet above Jackson Lake. Moose can be seen feeding in the lakes along the road and the view from this summit is spectacular.
