Flash & Studio Lighting Basics

In photography, lighting is everything and one of the most misunderstood areas in photography is flash photography - whether it's on-camera flash or studio strobes. In this hands-on course we'll use regular flash units and studio strobes to help you understand the basics of studio lighting.

Ramsey_0869Many photographers are comfortable shooting outdoors using natural light but bring the camera inside when you have to depend upon flash units and the results can be downright frustrating. Studio Lighting Basics is an interactive seminar in which you will have the opportunity to learn the professional secrets of artificial light.

We’ll use standard flash units and also studio strobes to illustrate the basics of studio lighting. During the seminar we’ll set up studio lights, complete with backgrounds, and photograph a variety of subjects. Topics covered during the seminar include;
  • Lighting Options
  • Main light, Fill light, Hair Light etc.
  • Metering strobe light
  • What’s a ratio?
  • Light Modifiers
