This year's Gulf States Camera Club Council
Convention is going to be held in Plano, Texas, Thursday, April 19 to 22, 2007.
It was moved from New Orleans due to the ongoing rebuilding after Hurricane
Katrina so this is a great opportunity to see some of the areas top presenters
(including yours truly) and also participate in some wonderful field trips and
workshops.
To learn more about the convention and to register
visit the conference website at
www.focusonplano.com.
My presentation at the event will be called
After the Sunset and deals with nighttime photography. I'll be
presenting on Friday morning at 8:30am so come with a hot cup of coffee for and
learn all about flash and nighttime photography.
That's right. In just a few weeks Adobe will
be rolling out the new Photoshop CS3 in two different versions; Photoshop CS3
and Photoshop CS3 Extended. Don't worry about needing another expensive
product. The Photoshop CS3 Extended is intended for film and video
professionals and folks needing 3D images.
The new Photoshop CS3 is ideal for photographers and
designers and delivers new features such as automatic layer alignment and
blending that enable advanced compositing. Live filters boost the comprehensive,
nondestructive editing toolset for increased flexibility. And a streamlined
interface and new, timesaving tools make your work flow faster.
If you just can't wait you can download the
CS3 Beta but I'd advise against it since I've not found it very stable. In
fact today I was trying to use the new CS3 Bridge and it would not show images
in different directories.

Crop and Straighten Image
The Crop and Straighten Photos command helps you make
separate image files from multiple images in a single scan. For best results,
you should keep 1/8 inch between the images in your scan, and the background
(typically the scanner bed) should be a uniform color with little noise. The
Crop and Straighten Photos command works best on images with clearly delineated
outlines.
If
the Crop And Straighten Photos command cannot process a complex image file, use
the Crop tool.
1.
Open the scanned file that contains the images
you want to separate.
2.
Select the layer that contains the images.
Alternatively, draw a selection border around one or more images to generate
just those images into separate files.
3.
Choose File > Automate > Crop And Straighten
Photos. The scanned images are processed, and then each image opens in its own
window.
4.
If the Crop And Straighten Photos command
incorrectly splits one of your images, make a selection border around the image
and some background, and then hold down Alt (Windows) or Option (Mac OS) when
you choose the command. The modifier key indicates only one image should be
separated from the background.
